During Art Basel, Hong Kong art scene was booming, with new art venues and shows opening all around town. This year’s highlight was the opening of H Queen’s building that became home to new locations of international galleries such as: David Zwirner, Hauser & Wirth, Pearl Lam, Tang Contemporary Art and Ora Ora. This solo show, is like a ‘trial’ where Gao Lei’s artworks become ‘evidences’ linking each other driven by the clues artist sets forward in the exhibition, guiding to a valid or invalided ‘confession’. These clues act as the ‘enzyme’ activating the energies gathered during the formation of the artworks, changing the original context of creation, where finally a new ‘specialistic’ truth is produced as an outcome of catalytic reaction. The fourth edition of the West Bund Art Fair took place last week in Shanghai, welcoming 39 national and international galleries in its main section. At the occasion of Art Basel “M+ Sigg Collection: Four Decades of Chinese Contemporary Art” was presented at the M+ museum in West Kowloon. The M+ Sigg Collection is an extraction from Swiss collector Uli Sigg’s unique collection. The Sigg Collection is universally recognised as the most important collection in the world of Chinese contemporary art from the 1970s to the present.
