The Masses : a performance by Beijing Paper Tiger Theater Studio in Antwerp

Beijing Paper Tiger Theater Studio was founded in 2003 and is one of the most exciting groups in China’s alternative arts scene. After The Waste of Antwerp last year, director Tian Gebing and dancer Wang Yanan present a performance about misreadings of widely used words referring to “the masses”. With the changes in China in the last decades, the meaning and usage of these words have also changed, creating contradictory meanings. The two artists will debate about these changes with local residents from Antwerp and from that confrontation will create a new performance.
